Smart TVs have come a long way, especially in the last couple of years and now we have certainly reached the stage where the market is brimming with options across price ranges.
A recent entrant this year was Realme, the brand that has slowly made a mark in the smartphone market and later launched a budget TV. Naturally, the company wanted to expand its horizons and roll out the big guns too, which meant introducing a 4K Smart TV with SLED display.
Priced at Rs 70,000, the Realme Smart TV SLED 4K comes with the promise of top of class display experience, but does it have what might make it your next smart TV? We find out in our review:
Top Features:
- Bezel-less Display
- Good Audio Experience
- Sleek Remote
Design
The latest Realme TV comes with a minimal look that is one design aspect seen in most other top-end TVs, which certainly makes it look premium.
The size of the device is quite large, however, it blends in well when wall mounted due to its thin frame. You also get the option to place it on a table-top using the metallic stands you get with it. But keep in mind that you will need a big table as the stands are placed on almost the extreme edges of the TV.
The back of the TV is made of plastic and houses all the connectivity ports. Overall, we were quite satisfied with this Realme TV in the design department.
Display
This TV from Realme boasts of a 55-inch panel that is complemented with super-thin bezels.
Realme claims that the display of the Realme Smart TV SLED 4K is better than a standard LED as it uses an RGB spectral power distribution (SPD). While using the TV, we were majorly pleased when watching all kinds of content, including both 4K resolution and 1080p.
The colours are most of the time punchy and vibrant with appropriate brightness, however, but on the downside do look a little overexposed at times especially with the red tones that look warmer than necessary.
Hardware and software
In terms of specs, the Realme smart TV comes powered by MediaTek 64-bit quad-core processor. On the software front, you get Android 9.0 based Android TV operating system due to which users get access to Google Assistant, Google Play Store and Chromecast. It also comes pre-loaded with select OTT apps.
Connectivity-wise, you get two USB ports, antenna and a mini AV In placed on the side, there is a 3.5mm port, LAN port, three HDMI ports facing down on the back. Some users may find the position of ports a little uncomfortable. However, that will depend on the placement of the TV.
For audio, the Realme Smart TV SLED 4K offers a two-speaker set that is tuned by Dolby Audio and is placed at the bottom. The TV has 24W of sound output delivering loud and clear sound quality. You won’t feel the need to install external audio accessories for your day to day usage.
Remote
Just like other top-end TVs, this Realme smart TV also comes with a minimal, sleek and functional remote design with only essential and basic buttons. The remote is quite compact and lightweight, which we quite liked.
